One thing that Carl promised the kids that we would do is go ziplining, and the decision was made before I came back from the states that Chiang Mai was the place! After doing some research into the different outfits in town that offered various ziplining tours, we settled on one called Eagletrack Zipline Adventures. Even though I have no basis for comparison, we were very pleased with the service and adventure offered from this company…and how easy they made it seem with the littlest ones in tow! They said that they allow children over the age of 5 on all their adventures. When we called to get a reservation and were told we could come in the next day for our adventure, they said they would send a car to pick us up for the hour long drive out to the location. In the morning, the driver was delayed and the owner came out to pick us up in his stead. Once we arrived, we were greeted, given a locker for our valuables, and quickly got suited up! (let me just say that I don’t think that diaper butt looks good on anyone but a baby!)
Then the adventure began! We headed out in the truck and they dropped us off at our starting point where they gave us the DO’s and DON’Ts of ziplining. For some reason, Sy was the first to go. I think he was a natural! He absolutely loved the ride and seemed to move with ease through the air along his cable!
The rest of us weren’t quite so graceful 🙂 It’s a bit harder than it looks to time your break so you don’t slam into the ledge of the platform!
We had a grand time cruising through the jungle. Our guide was awesome and took hundreds of photos of us doing our flying squirrel thing! It was hard to choose which ones to put up here to show you all!
After we got done, we walked past a lovely waterfall and up through the backyard of the office. After we removed our gear we were served lunch and then piled back into the car for the ride home. We really had a great time. I’m glad we didn’t do the short package, just as much as I’m glad we didn’t do the longer package. It was just enough of an experience for us to realize that it’s something that we would probably choose to do again…but in a different location. It’s a nice way to see the jungle without having to trekk through the brush with all the creepy crawlies!
OH! And we also got free tshirts and nicely printed certificates stating we completed their course….the gesture was nice even though they misspelled our names!
