Christmas this year was all about new and different. This was the first year that I, as a Mom, haven’t pulled out the decorations and put up a tree. That was a little saddening for me. But my wonderful daughter had a great idea….how about a Christmas Pineapple!? Great idea, Annalea!!!
It was a fun little addition to our studio apartment. Actually putting something up also made it feel a little more like Christmas. Kind of. I mean really…how in the heck is it supposed to feel like Christmas when this is what you do the day of Christmas Eve??
This beach, Nai Harn, is on the southern tip of Phuket. It was absolutely beautiful. The sand was warm (hot hot hot) and the water was unbelievably calm and clear. However, Carl says we haven’t seen clear until we’ve gone out to one of the islands!! In any case, we really enjoyed an afternoon splashing in the water and checking out the sea life…specifically the little crabs that bury themselves in the sand at the waters edge. We must have looked slightly moronic bending over and ooohing and ahhhing at their little antennae sticking up!
There were also a few Catamarans out in the water….that’s a fantasy of Carls…buying one and sailing around from island to island….but wow are those bad boys pricey!
When we got home and all cleaned up, we did our best to make cookies for Santa….did I forget to mention that we don’t have an oven? yeah….any idea how difficult it is to ”bake” cookies on the stove? I think pan quality would make a HUGE difference, but we had somewhat of a success!
We also made some nutella no-bakes!
I would have to say that our first Christmas in another country was a roaring success. I believe the thought of our Christmas Pineapple will never fail to bring a smile to my face 🙂
I also have a few more pics to share….
And finally….here’s how I get my coffee fix…and no, I don’t want to know what’s in it!
We are heading to the outdoor market today to get a few things…it usually turns into an all day affair 🙂
I hope all of you are staying warm….I’ll be thinking of you as I bask in the sunshine!!
